There are those hotels where you stay and leave, but there are some that just make you want to stay longer. The Vintage Lisbon Hotel & Spa is that boutique hotel that makes you wish time would stop. Inevitably, the concept of time seems to be the essence here, where mid-century glamour design meets modern Portuguese authenticity. Everything from the décor, furniture pieces, curated artworks to the colour combinations (expect shades of ochre, copper, deep green, rose pink and indigo blue) ooze refined style – think of Mad Men classicism combined with timeless Scandinavian aesthetic.
I stayed at one of the Vintage Castle Suite, a glamorous time-warp of a room that’s perfect for the modern man, albeit with a retro taste. There’s a minimal yet thoughtful approach here, providing spaces for a wooden desk to work in, and a classy lounge to hang around for coffee and tea. There’s a bonus balcony, where sunbathing is a must, with views of the eye-pleasing Lisbon landscape. But the cherry is the signature Vintage bar cart, with complimentary, Portuguese-made DIY gin-and-tonic kit, ideal for post-check in, room celebratory cocktail mix to help you ease into the Lisbon mood.
And yet The Vintage wonders do not end there. Being a unique 5-star boutique hotel, The Vintage also offers superior facilities. First off is the Blue Restaurant & Bar, offering a rewarding and relaxed dining experience with delectable Portuguese dishes for true Lisbon lovers. Another is the gym and spa, a true subterranean sanctuary featuring a water lounge and spa treatments to keep you relaxed during your stay in the city. Afterwards, when you want to live up to The Vintage lifestyle, the hotel offers two bars — one on the lounge, which they call The Hangout, and the other is on the rooftop, the stunning V Rooftop Bar, where you can take your friends and company to a tropical-themed city-high oasis with a panoramic view of Lisbon just under your feet and preferably, with cocktail in hand. That certainly completes The Vintage Lisbon experience.
